Film editing is all about intuition — intuition to know how characters will portray their emotions and how a scene will affect the audience. A good film editor knows exactly how hours of raw footage should be cut and joined to create a complete story, and needs to be both well-versed in editing software and a good storyteller. At GKFTII, we focus on both aspects of editing.
Video editing software serves many purposes, from filmmaking to audio commentary and general video editing. In NLE software, students learn to manipulate sections of video, images, and audio on a sequence — trimming, cutting, and combining clips in many different ways.
Video editing software is capable of editing, modifying, generating, or manipulating a video or movie file. With a video editor, students learn to remove sections of video, cut and arrange footage for better flow, and add effects to enhance the final piece.
Continuity editing uses a variety of classic film editing techniques to blend multiple camera shots — some taken at different times or even different locations — into a seamless, consistent narrative.
